Engineering News-Record (ENR) to Host Inaugural "Top 1000 Contractors Leadership Forum" June 17th & 18th in Chicago

Contractors to Discuss Recruitment, Insurance, Risk Management & Technology

NEW YORK, N.Y., June 11, 2002 - McGraw-Hill Construction, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE:MHP) and CoMcGraw-Hill Construction's Engineering News-Record magazine, part of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), will host the inaugural "Top 1000 Contractors Leadership Forum" in Chicago, Illinois at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers on June 17th and 18th.

This highly interactive program will bring together the leaders of the Top 400 Contractors and the Top 600 Specialty Contractors in the construction industry. They will engage in candid discussions and exchange ideas and presentations to an audience comprised of public and private sector contractors and top executives from the financial, equipment and service communities.

Keynote speakers include Jim Bernhard,Jr., chief executive officer of The Shaw Group, and Dennis Washington, chairman of The Washington Group.

Session topics include:

  • Insurance, surety, risk management

  • The crisis in recruiting and retaining of skilled workers and executives

  • Contractors and subcontractors - what makes the perfect partner

  • Technology and Web-based management from the CEO's perspective

  • Design-build project delivery

In addition, Robert Murray, vice president, McGraw-Hill Construction Economic Affairs, will deliver his mid-year update of the economic outlook for the construction industry. He will then join a discussion on federal and state funding and the outlook for project financing. Participants will include Joel Levington, director of Standard & Poors; David Sauerman, vice president, LaSalle National Bank; and Joe Ivey, president, Encompass.
