F.W. Dodge Selected by Three Florida Chapters
of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) to Provide "Virtual"
Plan Room
Chapters Also to Receive
Preferred Access to F.W. Dodge Data, Publications, Products, Services
and Resources
NASHVILLE, March 21,
2001 - F.W. Dodge, the nation's leading provider of construction
information services, and a part of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE:
MHP) Construction Information Group, today announced it has been
selected to provide "virtual" plan room service for the AGC's South
Florida, East Coast Florida and Central Florida chapters.
The Florida Internet plan room will access
the more than 60,000 project plans and specifications available
through F.W. Dodge and will be offered to members of the three AGC
Florida Chapters at exclusive rates. Subscriptions will be available
for any size and type geography to fit each individual firm's needs,
from as small as one county to the entire nation. Subscriptions
can be further customized by project size or type. Delivery can
be via online through each chapter web site, dodge.construction.com,
via CD ROM or print copies.
Additionally, Dodge will provide weekly reports
of Florida pre-design and planning leads, as well as a link from
each chapter web site to dodge.construction.com. Other benefits for AGC
members include complimentary subscriptions to Dodge's Southeast
Construction—Florida Edition and continuing education programs and
speakers.
"The South Florida Chapter of AGC believes
the impending revolution in construction bid processing and project
management will take place on the Internet," said Len Mills, executive
vice president of South Florida AGC. "We believe that within the
next two years, all major contractors and subcontractors will use
the Internet, just as they are currently using cell-phones, palms,
and faxes. That is why we are excited and committed to the partnership
between our Chapter and F.W. Dodge."
"The Florida East Coast Chapter is extremely
excited about the new relationship between AGC and F.W. Dodge,"
said Barkley Henderson, president and CEO of Florida East Coast-AGC.
"The AGC Board of Directors sees this as another great opportunity
to serve not only AGC member firms, but also the construction industry
as a whole."
"We are really looking forward to offering
this expanded level of service to our members and we are very excited
about working with F.W. Dodge," said Daniel M. Hogan, executive
director of the AGC of Central Florida.
In addition to the Internet plan rooms, Dodge will be co-branding
its existing Miami, West Palm, and Orlando Plan Rooms with the AGC
and will relocate its facilities to be contiguous with the AGC offices
later this year.
"We are proud that three of AGC's strongest chapters have entrusted
F.W. Dodge to provide their members with construction information
technology," said Robert Amico, senior vice president and general
manager of F.W. Dodge. "Internet-based plan rooms are changing the
way contractors conduct business and AGC clearly recognizes their
importance."
